INTRO In this little tutorial I will tell you how, step by step, to use a photo for sky in Vue d'Esprit using alphaplanes. |
The first thing you need to do is to get a large, high-quality-photo you want to be your sky. The bigger the better. Then you'll be able to zoom in and out, move the camera, etc. without having to worry about constanly moving and resizing the alphaplane. I've
made 6 skies for you that you can download here. They're all approx. 4000
x 2000 and in very high quality. These photos are for non-commercial-purposes
only

The next thing to do is to put it on an alphaplane. This is very simple: Create an alphaplane, select your sky-photo and click OK.

POSITIONING IT Now, enlarge the alphaplane and move it back. Make it face the camera, and make sure you can't see any of the original sky. |
Select
the alphaplane and open the material in the material-editor. Go to "effects"
and set the sliders to the following : Diffuse
: 0% Also
uncheck "Cast Shadows" and "Recieve
Shadows" in the top.

FOG AND HAZE The last thing to do is to edit some things in the atmosphere-editor (F4). Since the sky is an alphaplane, it will be influenced by the fog- and haze-settings of the atmosphere. Go to "Fog and Haze" and adjust the sliders so the settings fit your needs. |
FINISHED That's
it! :) Pretty simple... here are some examples of images with a photo
for the sky Enjoy! :)
